Case Study
The Client
The Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP) has been a leader in restoring and protecting Estuaries of National Significance since 1995. It is the designated National Estuary Program (NEP) for all Coastal Alabama.
The Challenge
As a part of its stewardship of Coastal Alabama, the MBNEP often needs to communicate complex ecological concepts with community leaders and stakeholders. As they began to incorporate more video work into their outreach efforts, it soon became clear that some concepts and data could not be easily shown through video alone.
The Solution
I worked closely with the MBNEP Private Sector Program Lead, Director, and production studio (Skodaworks Media & Marketing) to enhance their videos with motion graphics and animated segments while maintaining scientific accuracy. The requeseted aesthetic of "90s Science Textbook" was achieved through custom illustrated maps and assets, and I leaned heavily on particle effects and simulations to illustrate the movement of sediment throughout coastal waterways. The result was a polished and engaging video that makes a compelling case for the importance of the MBNEP's work in maintaining ecological balance.

The Results
“Tripp was awesome to work with. He was able to take complicated scientific concepts, get a working understanding of them quickly, and turn around an animation that helped us communicate those concepts to the public. All in just a couple of weeks!”
